CUMMINS DIESEL
REPOWERS

1959 Ford Crew Cab - This one was a BIG project.  There was alot of rebuilding to do in the engine compartment before the engine could be set in along with the floorpan (and much more)..we fabricated the dash and ordered in a telescoping tilt steering wheel assembly along with heat/airconditioning for the front and rear. We installed a 97 12 Valve with an NV4500 transmission. This truck came from Seattle, Kirk S., owner pictured here is now living in Bozeman, Mt.

Auto World has been doing Cummins repowers since 1989.  Owner, Ken Kraus did the first repower on his own truck in 1988 at his shop at home.  We have done over 250 repowers since that time.  Here are some pictures of our projects and some testimonials will be added a little later.
This is my 1978 Chevy, my first repower - doing its job!
This is my current truck, it is a 1973 modified with a 91 front end and made into a dually.  I built this in 1992, we needed more room for the funny car crew, we travel so many miles to race, we needed to be comfortable. I started with an older 12 valve and upgraded to a 97 innercooled 12 valve in 97, It has an NV4500 transmission with a Gear Vendors Overdrive, the left picture is 1992, the right one is now, after
400,000 miles on the highways going to race tracks...

Als Ford Cummins, also a former Powerstroke -done in 2004 It is in Butte, Mt. 5.9/NV4500/Monster Exhaust.
This is our first suburban project.  Its the only
one we have out there with an automatic.  He
is a coach and only pulls a small trailer with soccer
balls. Bill brought his own 12 Valve motor.  This
was done in 99 - from Havre, Mt.
This Ford was done in 1992, It
came from Canada.
This one comes from Miles City, Mt and has an NV4500  & Banks Powerpack installed along with the Cummins. 2003
This 1982 30' Winnebago was done in 1994, we replaced the 454 with a 12 Valve Cummins and a Gear Vendors Overdrive.  Ernie once got a tickets going 110 mph, he was
proud of that.  He is no longer with us.
This was a special project for a special customer. Gus wanted this done before he lost his battle with cancer. He brought us this Caterpillar engine to put in his Ford.  It was complicated and not a recommended project.  His son now has the truck. It lives in White Sulpher Springs, Mt.  1993
This F250 was repowered with a 94 5.9 Cummins with a 5 speed and Gear Vendors Overdrive in 2001.  It is from Helena, Mt.
We called this our MadMax Cummins.  This belongs to a rancher north of Great Falls.  Tim uses this as a bale picker to stack the large hay bales.  It was interesting!
This is a work truck belonging to a rancher north of Great Falls also, it was done in 2001.  It has an NV4500 and Gear Vendors Overdrive behind the 5.9Cummins.

This beautiful 97 Chevrolet Crew Cab went home to Grand Junction, Co on 1/29/06.  Dan loves his new Cummins!  It was a 6.5 Chev diesel - it now has a 97 Cummins with an NV4500.  The details in the grill took some time but turned out awesome.  This one had AC up top on the 6.5, to avoid moving everything, Ken built a bracket - you can also see here his fabrication quality in the shroud.

This 2006 Ford F550 is now powered by a 2002 Cummins Diesel and an NV5600.  Add ons included injectors, larger turbo and elbow (pictured), fass fuel pump, Banks intercooler,
US Gear, Pacbrake, Edge Comp Module.  The ex-6.0 powerstroke electronics were a challenge but after experimenting and guidance from Doug @ Automate here in Great Falls and Tom Ackerson's knowledge and help, we were able to get ALL the Ford electronics working (guages pictured working the day he left) including the tach and cruise control. Rolland Rapley in the shop worked very hard on this project which came out awesome.
It went home with Rick N. to Elk Grove, CA,
the first week of March after it was in a local car show (pictured).  It will be shown in Vegas in May @ the diesel truck show.

This beautiful 2002 Ford F350 made its way to Great Falls from Hawaii on a ship.  The owners Marcus and Betsy,  have sold their home and are going to enjoy their truck for a few weeks before making a decision where they will live.  The powerstroke was removed and replaced with a 2003 common rail with add-ons -  ATS twin turbos, injectors, towing cam, head studs, manifold, pacbrake, guages, FASS fuel system, NV5600 transmission with Southbend clutch set, airbags, some new wheels and armorthane on the bumper.                           This 2003 Ford F350 hails from Santa
Barbara, CA.  Hans chose to take out the
6.0 Powerstroke at 57K miles to get more
power for his service truck.  We installed a 05 Common Rail
and developed an adapter for the ZF6 with Scott at Destroked
for this combination, it works quite well.  Hans reported 20mpg
running empty on his way home and 15-16 loaded with all his gear.

Napa Valley, Ca is the home of this 1968 Ford Hi-Boy
that after a very labor intensive installation is under the
power of a 2005 Cummins, backed up by a new 2005 Dodge automatic transmission and 241 DHD transfer
case.  Peter wanted an automatic - it turned out to be quite an ordeal with several delays  making this a long, long job with very great results.  Everything needed to be fabricated.  Wiring was interesting - taking a nearly completely bare vehicle and building all basis for the
operation of this completely computerized powerplant.
The transmission is controlled by an off-engine controller,
with an ATS valve body and wiring harness. This truck
is a HOT ROD! Look out California!!!

Bronson is all smiles when we met him in Missoula to return his 99 Ford.  He had a repower done by another shop in Colorado using an adapter (NOT Destroked) that destroyed his transmission and clutch.  We pulled the motor and basically started  over using our  quad mounts, redid the wiring, built a fan shroud to help correct his cooling problems, added cruise control, reworked AC and installed an NV5600 to replace the ZF6.  He is from Montana and now lives in the Denver area.
